Richard Anton Zimmerman fell asleep in death on Sunday, October 8, 2000 at the Brandon Regional Health Centre. He was born on September 28, 1936 at Deadwood, Alberta, son of Nels and Anna Zimmerman. Richard is survived by his wife of 39 years, Bertha, a brother Andrew of Westbank, B.C. and a sister, Frieda. He was predeceased by his parents, Nels and Anna. When Richard was in his early teens, as a family, Dad, Mom, Andy and Richard began to study the Bible. As a result, he resolved to dedicate his life and serve his God, Jehovah. Richard was baptized as a Jehovah's Witness in June 1951. Richard realized his goal and began his career as a full-time minister in December 1955. During the following 45 years, he served in Alberta, Quebec, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Manitoba. On June 10, 1961, he married his wife Bertha (nee Malone) and from then on, they were pioneer partners. Over the years, Richard served in many positions of oversight. At present, he served on the body of elders of the Oak Park, Brandon Congregation. A memorial service was held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, Brandon on Friday, October 13, 2000.
