Obituary

Richard Peter Osterbeck was born on January 14, 1942, in Antler, Saskatchewan, the eldest son of Jacob and Jean Osterbeck. He was raised on the family farm north of Antler along with his eight sisters and brothers, Mavis (Logan), Roy, Marilyn (Harasymchuk), Elaine (Ewen), Linda (Perreaux), Donald, Patricia (Tinant), and Cindy (Tinant).

He met and married April Paulette Edwards in 1964, welcoming daughter Paulette (1965), and sons Wayne (1967) and Sean (1968). They started married life farming north of where he grew up, before making the decision to move to Brandon in 1969.

Dad started working for Cumming and Dobbie shortly after moving to Brandon and many years later became the owner of it. The business became a family venture as all of us would work there at one time or another before making the decision to sell in 2015.

Dad and mom enjoyed good health and spent many winters travelling the U.S. before setting up a winter home in Yuma, AZ. He enjoyed woodworking and golfing, both at home and in Arizona.

Richard lost his daughter Paulette in 2017 and wife April in 2019. Health issues led dad to take up residence at Valleyview Personal Care Home where he resided until his passing.

Dad is survived by sons Wayne (Heather) and Sean; grandchildren Paul and Anna as well as siblings Roy, Marilyn, Elaine, Donald and Cindy.

A Funeral Service will take place at Memories Chapel, 330 18th Street North, Brandon, MB on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at 1:00 p.m.
