Obituary

BOTTERILL: The family is sad to announce the death of Richard Gordon Botterill at the Brandon Regional Health Centre, on Wednesday, May 2, 2007. Richard is survived by his sister Jolene (Dave) Patterson; brothers Terry (Jean) Botterill and David (Carolin) Botterill. The Funeral Ceremony will be held at St. Matthew's Anglican Cathedral, 403 - 13th Street, on Thursday, May 17, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. The Very Rev. Robin Walker will officiate. Donations in memory of Richard may be made to the Brandon Light Horse and Pony Society, c/o Leisa Halloran, Box 119, Boissevain, Manitoba, R0K 0E0. BOTTERILL: On May 2, 2007 Richard Gordon Botterill passed away in Brandon, Manitoba at the age of 54 years. Richard is lovingly remembered by Jolene (David) Patterson, Alisa and Scott; Terry (Jean) Botterill, Brian and Janet of Sherwood Park, Alberta; and David (Carolin) Botterill, Erin, Hannah and Clare, of Calgary, Alberta. He was predeceased by his parents, Lewis Ray and Jocelyn Clare Botterill. Richard was born in Calgary, Alberta, moved to Brandon with his family and completed his schooling at B.U. with a Bachelor of Science and later became a Charted Accountant. He worked in the Brandon area and was last employed by Assiniboine Community College. His passions included cars and horses. He was a member of the Wheat City Sports Car Club where he slalomed and rallied in his Renault Gordini. He was an avid horse lover and spent special time with his two horses, Sunny and Allie. Richard held the position of Treasurer and President and worked tirelessly for the Brandon Light Horse and Pony Society Inc. for over 30 years. He particularly enjoyed horse shows and the Provincial Exhibition of Manitoba winter and summer fairs where he was often found announcing in the hitching ring or show ring. Interment will be at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, May 17, 2007 at the Brandon Cemetery, with a Memorial Service celebrating Richard's life at 2:00 p.m. at St. Matthews Anglican Cathedral, 403-13th Street, with The Very Reverend Robin Walker officiating. A reception will follow in the Parish Hall at St. Matthews. Memorial donations in Richard's honour may be made to a charity of your choice or to the Brandon Light Horse and Pony Society, c/o Leisa Halloran, Box 119, Boissevain, Manitoba, R0K 0E0.
