BEAUDETTE: Remi Raymond Eugene Beaudette, of Brandon, passed away at the Brandon Regional Health Centre on Wednesday, March 28, 2007. Remi was born on October 1st, 1928, in St. Jean Baptiste, second son of Georges and Marie Beaudette. After schooling in St. Jean, he worked at the St. Boniface Hospital in the OR. He later worked at the Miseracordia Hospital on the wards as well as in the carpentry shop. Once he heard that Brandon Mental Health Centre was hiring, he applied and was accepted there. He enrolled in the third class offered for Registered Psychiatric Nurses, (RPN) graduating in 1954. Other than three years in California, again working in a hospital, Remi worked at BMHC until 1991. During his nursing career and after retirement he took great pleasure in carpentry, a second vocation. Remi met and married a fellow student, Velma Jean Hodgson, during his employment at BMHC. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2006. Remi was a lifelong member of the Catholic Church and was actively involved with parish life. Besides his professional memberships, he belonged to the Knights of Columbus. He was also one of the original members of the Credit Union at BMHC. He square danced with clubs here, in the US and in Mexico (in retirement there was a little property in Texas that was a winter home). While in Texas he took up wood carving and presented several friends with his handiwork as well as other gifts that were to be used as prizes. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Velma; daughter Renee Robinson (Gordon Chester); and four sons: Raymond Paul (Jackie), Gene (Sandra), Peter (Sandi), and Gerry. There are nine grandchildren: Pam, Brendon and Rebecca Robinson; Teghan, Kahlia, and Brett; Braydon and Ashtyn; and Rachel Beaudette. There is one great grandchild, Seth Robinson. Also mourning his passing are his brothers and sisters Eddie (Agnes) Beaudette, Solange Normandeau, Jeanette (Joe) Saurette, Leo, Gilbert and Jean-Paul Beaudette, and sister-in-law Joyce Rutledge. He was predeceased by his parents, two brothers Georges-Aime and Roger and one sister Louise. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Augustine's Roman Catholic Church on Tuesday, April 3, 2007 with celebrant Rev. Fr. Dominic Yuen. The urn bearer was his brother Knight, Pat Golding. Interment followed in Rosewood Memorial Gardens. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of one's choice. Expressions of sympathy may be made at www.memorieschapel.com. Arrangements were with Memories Chapel & Pre-Planning Centre, 727-0330.

BEAUDETTE
Our thanks to everyone who mourned with us in the loss of our husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Your caring helped us to carry on, as Remi would have wanted. To those who supported us by your prayers, gifts of food or flowers; to his doctor and the staff on A3 Palliative Care - Remi felt so safe there; to the CWL for the lovely lunch; to the choir for their music, especially the requested hymn; to Fr. Dominic for this understanding and guidance, and for the personal memories he shared with us during the service; to the Knights for their participation and other assists; to Memories Chapel for being there to show us the next step, and to the angels from Home Care - all these - you helped us.
We would also like to acknowledge the generous hearts of the Lions Manor staff and residents, and the travel required for our brothers and sisters to be together on this occasion. You have given us priceless memories.
