GREGOIRE: Real "Frenchie" Gregoire passed away peacefully on Nov. 12, 2011 at Fairview Home in Brandon. Real was born in Hull Quebec on June 21, 1921 and was one of 13 children born to Eugene & Emilia (LaLonde) Gregoire. He was predeceased by his parents and 12 siblings, wife Josephine (Wielgosz 2002) and daughter Carole Dianne. Real is survived by his 2nd wife Helen (Snydal); son Richard (Sandra); daughter Marilyn Lantz and partner Ron; grandsons Geoff & Tim Gregoire, Marc & Michael Lantz; great-granddaughter Ella Lantz; sister Marguerite Gregoire and numerous in-laws. Real wore many hats during his 90 years. He was a Chef, Milkman, IGA store owner and Garage Manager. Real was a devout Catholic and belonged to the Knights of Columbus. He loved people, young and old and always stopped to talk or hand out candy, especially his peppermints. Real loved his sports - playing and watching. He umpired at Curran Park and then he followed Richard's fastball team. Real liked teasing and talking to the nursing staff at Fairview, even if he could not remember their names. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and support staff for the care they took with our father, Real. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Augustine's Roman Catholic Church, on Tuesday, November 15, 2011. Rev. Fr. James Ahaneku was celebrant and Deacon John MacKenzie delivered the homily. Pallbearers were Marc Lantz, Michael Lantz, Murray Blight, Geoff Gregoire, Tim Gregoire and Perry Stonehouse. A private family interment followed at the Brandon Cemetery.
