Obituary

Ray Laloyaux passed away peacefully with family by his side on Thursday, October 24, 2024, at Valleyview PCH.

Ray will be lovingly remembered by his spouse Virginia Millar; children Eleanor Laloyaux (Bruce) and her family, Chuck Laloyaux and his family; sister Cheryle Snyder and her family; special niece Cherise Dacquay and her family. Ray was a proud grandfather to 6, great grandfather to 14 and great great grandfather to 5.

Ray was born in Quesnel, BC to parents Raymond and Ada and grew up in Oak Lake, MB.

Ray began his career working with CN-CP Rail Telegraph, where he cultivated many lasting friendships. A lover of travel, Ray cherished cruises with Virginia and his mother, and took many memorable trips, including adventures to the West Coast and South Dakota. Ray enjoyed flying and was also an avid pilot.

Ray's passions extended to golf, curling, and motorcycles, and he spent countless hours enjoying these hobbies. He also found great joy in sports, contributing as both a hockey referee and a baseball umpire as well as coaching baseball and hockey. Breakfast with the guys was a treasured tradition, providing many laughs and camaraderie.

A devoted volunteer, Ray proudly served as a lieutenant with the Royal Canadian Sea Cadets Corps Swiftsure, instilling discipline and passion in younger generations. At Valleyview, Ray was known for his warm demeanor and became affectionately recognized as "the dancer," bringing joy to family and friends.

Ray's most cherished moments were those spent surrounded by loved ones. He always said, "It's been a good day today, everyone has been in to see me," a testament to his love for the people in his life.

A Celebration of Ray's Life will take place at Memories Chapel, 330 – 18th Street North, Brandon on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. A time of fellowship will take place immediately following the service. The interment will be held at the Oak Lake Cemetery at 2:00 p.m.
