The death of Ralph William Washington of Brandon occurred suddenly at his residence on Friday, December 1, 2000. Ralph was born April 10, 1928, in Brandon and lived all his life in the city. He worked with CN Rail 39 years and retired as a locomotive engineer in March of 1988. Ralph is survived by his wife of 47 years, Doreen, sons Robert (Marlene) and Glen (Judy), grandson Andrew and his pet Kristi. He is also survived by brothers & sisters; Marion of Abbotsford, BC; Gwen of Kelowna, BC; Pat (George), Winnipeg; Lew (Mariam), Red Deer, AB; Ken (Muriel), Kelowna, BC; Charles (Linda), Brandon; Jim, Brandon, Don (Myrna), Westlock, AB; Doris (Craig), Kelowna, BC; brother-in-law Bill (Doreen) Grainger, Boissevain; sister-in-law Joyce (Elmer) Hill, Killarney; brother-in-law Walter Zeiler, Boissevain, and many nieces and nephews. Ralph was predeceased by his parents; mother, Doris in 1966 and father William in 1981, brothers Lawrence in 1967 and Robert in 1938 and sister-in-law Beryl Zeiler. He belonged to the Brandon Hills Miniature Railway Club, was a life time member of Brandons Commonwealth Air Training Plan Museum and enjoyed his regular morning visits with his coffee buddies at Robins.A time of visitation was held at Memories Chapel on Tuesday, December 5, 2000 between 7:00 & 8:00 pm. Cremation followed. The funeral service was held at Memories Chapel on Wednesday, December 6, 2000. Interment was at the Brandon Cemetery. Flowers gratefully declined.
