ANTONATION: With his family at his side, Ralph Joseph Antonation passed away peacefully on Monday, November 20, 2006 at the Brandon Regional Health Centre. Ralph was born in Olha, Manitoba on June 11, 1926 to Jessie and Roy Antonation. He received his education at Zaporoza and Seech schools. Ralph was working as a mechanic in a garage in Oakburn where he met his future wife, Jean Tkachuk. They married in 1950, moved to Brandon in 1952 and began raising their five children. Many of his jobs over the years revolved around mechanics and construction. Ralph's favorite pastimes were working on cars, spending time at the cabin at Sandy Lake fishing and playing cards, entertaining his grandchildren, and then later, playing with his great grandchildren. Before Ralph had medical problems, he was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it. Whether it be working on someone's car that just wouldn't run right, or if it was a friend that needed help in any construction project from shingling a roof to building a deck. Later when he became disabled he had to overcome many challenges. Because of limited mobility, he occupied much of his time with his new hobby of doing jigsaw puzzles. His collection of completed puzzles totaled well over 200. Ralph was especially proud that he was able to attend all of his grandchildren's high school graduation ceremonies. Ralph was predeceased by his father Roy Antonation; mother, Jessie Kaskiw; baby sister Helen; brothers Archie and Steve. He will always be remembered and sadly missed by his wife Jean; sons: Garry (Brenda), Jerry (Darlene); daughters: Shirley (Steve) Jackson, Patsy Schepp (Uwe Jung), and Janie (Lawrence) Humeniuk; grandchildren: Len (Maree) Antonation, Jamie (Michelle) Antonation, Sherry (Jeff) Albert, Scott (Kym) Antonation, Chris Schepp (Carrie Dyer), Kevin Schepp (Crystal Glover), Nicole Schepp (Mark Johnson), Amanda Humeniuk (Andrew Gray), Amber Humeniuk (Mark Poole) and Stephanie Jackson; great grandchildren: Brookelyn and Aiden Antonation, Connor and Carson Schepp, Kenzie and Ashley Albert, Julian Antonation, and Keenan Poole. He also leaves to mourn many brothers and sisters: Walter (Audrey) Antonation of Chicago, Phyllis (John) Warnick of Brandon, Jack Antonation of Brandon, Stanley (Florence) Kaskiw of Brandon, Pete (Marlene) Kaskiw of Brandon, Jean Campbell of Brandon, Teena Wight of Brandon, Elsie Drozda of Minnedosa, Martha (Vern) Lawrence of Winnipeg, Ken (Jo-Ann) Kaskiw of Brandon, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation was held at Memories Chapel on Wednesday, November 22, 2006. Funeral service was held at Memories Chapel on Thursday, November 23, 2006 with Rev. Fr. Michael Tkachuk as Celebrant. Cantor was Mr. Tony Yuriy. Eulogy was written and read by Amber and Amanda Humeniuk. Active pallbearers were all of Ralph's grandchildren. Honorary pallbearers were all those in attendance Interment followed in the Rosewood Memorial Gardens. Friends who wish may make a donation in memory of Ralph to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 3-824-18th Street, Brandon, MB R7A 5B7.
