Bercier (nee: Clark) Queenie Mary, formerly of Calgary, Alberta, passed on peacefully in her sleep while visiting her son's home in Chater, Manitoba on December 8th, 2000. Queenie was born at South End on Sea, Essex, England, on May 19th, 1911 to Jack and Ada Clark (nee: Everett). Queenie immigrated to Canada with her family in 1913 and lived in the Fort William/Port Arthur area of Ontario. She married Leslie White Sr. in 1930, and was widowed prior to the birth of their second child, when Leslie Sr. died following a tragic accident on his job with the railroad. Queenie moved to the Elphinstone area of Manitoba to be with her sister following Leslie Sr.'s passing. While living in the area she met Ernie Bercier and was married on July 10th, 1932. Queenie and Ernie lived in Elphinstone raising five more children until Ernie's passing in January 1989. Queenie then moved to Calgary, Alberta and resided with her daughters over the next eleven years until her passing. During her lifetime, Queenie was a dedicated mother to all her children, loving each one equally. She worked tirelessly for her children and ensured that each was imparted with her strong sense of Christian values. She loved her church dearly and her faith in God and the Catholic church were paramount in her life. Her interests included watching her favourite soap operas on television, knitting items for countless friends and relatives and reading a good Danielle Steele book. She relished any opportunity to help in the kitchen and in her later years would insist on washing the supper dishes by hand, even though a dishwasher was usually available for this chore. Queenie is survived by her children, Albert (Margaret) White of Edmonton, Alberta, Leslie (Lillian) White Jr. of Brandon, Manitoba, Lucy (Kenneth) Robinson of Ear Falls, Ontario, Shirley (Robert) Fischer of Calgary, Alberta, Deanna Lessard (nee: Bercier) of Calgary, Alberta, Ernest Bercier (friend Willie Halverson) of Fort Kent, Alberta and Dennis (Brenda) Bercier of Chater, Manitoba. In addition to being a devoted Mother to her seven children, Queenie was a loving Grandmother to 24 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren and 3 great, great, grandchildren. Queenie was predeceased by her parents Jack and Ada Clark (nee: Everett), and husbands, Leslie White Sr. and Ernie Bercier. She will be dearly missed by all. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated following cremation on December 16th, 2000 at St. Augustine's Roman Catholic Church in Brandon, Manitoba with Rev. Fr. Rainerio Sarce as Celebrant. All in attendance were honorary pallbearers. Interment of cremains will take place following a graveside service to be held at the Sacred Heart Parish Cemetery in Elphinstone, Manitoba on May 19th, 2001.
