Vidomski (nee Birch): Phyllis Anne, passed away on Thursday, June 17, 2004 at the Brandon Regional Health Centre with her family at her side, after a short but courageous battle with cancer. Phyllis was born in Kelwood, MB on November 29, 1944. She received her education in Kelwood and at the age of 17 moved with her family to Brandon. Soon after moving to Brandon Phyllis began work at the Carnation Potato plant in Carberry. She met Walter "Wally" at this time and they were married on October 24, 1964. Phyllis then began working at BMHC in the laundry department in 1965 until 1968. Two children were born during this time, Kimberly and Shauna. Her only son Darren was born in July of 1974 and Phyllis stayed home to raise her family until August of 1980 when she started work at Fairview Home in the Dietary Department. She worked at Fairview Home for 19 years until she was forced to stay home due to ill health. Phyllis was affectionately known as "Mama" to all who worked with her at Fairview. Phyllis enjoyed her work, knitting, going for coffee, jigsaw puzzles, listening to her police scanner and in recent years her computer games and going to bingo. She had a special admiration for Elvis Presley. Phyllis is survived by her husband, Walter; daughters, Kimberly (Gerald) and Shauna (Brian); and son, Darren (Lisa); as well as grandchildren, Joshua and Matthew Cariou, Liam and MacKenzie Neill and Jordan Vidomski. Also surviving are her sisters, Madeline (George) Bishop, Betty Birch, Margaret (Gordon) Pearce and Judy (Jim) Menzies; sisters-in-law, Jean and Evelyn; numerous nieces and nephews; and special family friend, Al Sellars. Phyllis was predeceased by her parents Sidney and Rosetta Birch; twin brothers, Ray and Roy; brother, Emerson; father-in-law, Walter and mother-in-law, Eva. The Funeral Ceremony was held at Memories Chapel on Monday, June 21, 2004. Interment followed in the Brandon Cemetery. A time of visitation for family and friends was held at Memories Chapel on Sunday, June 20, 2004. Flowers are gratefully declined.
