Obituary

The death of Peter Ostash of Brandon occurred Sunday, March 23, 2003 at his residence. Prayers will be said on Thursday, March 27, 7:30 p.m. at Memories Chapel, 330-18th Street North. Funeral service will be held on Friday, March 28 at 10:00 a.m. at the Chapel. Father Leo Fernandes of St. Augustine's Roman Catholic Church will officiate. Interment will follow in the Brandon Cemetery. Flowers are gratefully declined. Friends who wish may make a donation in memory of Peter to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, Westman Region, 437-9th Street, Brandon, MB R7A 4A9 or to a charity of choice. OSTASH: Peter Sr. The family of Peter Ostash Sr. would like to announce his passing on Sunday, March 23, 2003 at his residence at Fairview Personal Care Home in Brandon. Dad was born March 29, 1915 in the RM of Strathclair and was raised in the Dolony District. He was the oldest son of John and Margaret Ostash. Dad and Mom farmed for a number of years in the Shoal Lake area and then moved to Brandon in 1955. Dad worked as a carpenter for a number of years before joining the Brandon School Division until his retirement in 1983. Dad was active in the church and enjoyed meeting people. In his later years, he purchased an antique car and entered it in a number of parades and car shows. Dad was predeceased by his parents, John and Margaret Ostash, his sisters Nellie Dawidowski and Rose Downing, his sister-in-law Marie Ostash and his nephews Edward and Alan Ostash and niece Mary-Jane Ostash. Peter will be missed by his extremely special friend Lynne Lysenko. Dad will be sadly missed by the mother of his children, Jean Ostash and by his ten children, Nick, Ellen, Phyllis (Barry), Betty (Lloyd), Peter (Sharon), Ernie (Debbie), Maxine, Donny, Phillip (Marilyn) and Terry (Jean). Gido will also be missed by his 14 grandchildren, Nevin, Natashia, Bryan (Angie), David, Cathy (Cliff), Amanda, Chris, Derek, Drew, Matthew, Melanie, Brittany, Jennifer and Jonathan. He will also be missed by his three great-granddaughters, Harley, Kristen and Ashley. Active pallbearers will be his six sons, Nick, Peter, Ernie, Donny, Phillip and Terry. The honorary pallbearers will be his six brothers, Jack, Mike, Harry, Milton, Stan and Don. Funeral service will be conducted by Father Leo Fernandes of St. Augustine's Church and Eulogy will be said by Nick Ostash at Memories Chapel, 18th Street North in Brandon at 10:00 a.m. Friday, March 28, 2003. Interment will be at the Brandon Cemetery, 18th Street South in Brandon. Flowers are gratefully declined and any donations may be made to the Alzheimers Society of Manitoba, Westman Region, 437-9th Street, Brandon.
