Obituary

The death of Penny Hoy of 26 Elderwood Drive occurred in the city on Monday, January 1, 2001. Penny was born at Dryden, Ontario on May 19, 1949, daughter of Gordon and Patricia McFayden. When the family moved to Brandon, Penny attended Earl Oxford School and Neelin High School. She was actively involved with student council and many other extra curricular activities. She enjoyed gardening and its beauty, and all the facets of the plants and flowers of the world. Penny made great strides in her community towards the equal rights of the physically and mentally challenged individuals in the Westman area. She was a member of the Association for Community Living, the Manitoba Supported Employment Network, Westmans Coalition for Employment Opportunities and the Joint Committee and Government Consultation on Disability and Employment Issues. Penny is survived by her sons: Dana and Aaron Hoy, mother Patricia McFayden, brothers; Scott (Maurine) McFayden, Brian (Karen) McFayden and sisters; Leslie Thornborough, Haven (Jim) Sinclair. She also leaves nieces; Chelsey McFayden, Jane McFayden and Amanda Thornborough and nephews, Scott Sinclair and Cody McFayden. Penny was predeceased by her father, Gordon McFayden. The Ceremony to Celebrate Penny's Life was held at Memories Chapel, 330 - 18th Street North, on Saturday, January 6, 2001 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Harold Nightingale officiating.
