PLATO: Patricia Elisabeth Plato of Brandon, Manitoba, loving wife, mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 18, 2006, at the Brandon Assiniboine Center with her family by her side after her courageous battle with cancer at the age of 63. Patricia was born on August 1, 1942 in Victoria Beach, Manitoba. The middle children of five children. She spent her early years and received her education in Victoria Beach before moving to Winnipeg to work at Kimberly Clark. In 1960, she met her future husband Arthur Plato in Victoria Beach and was married on October 13, 1962. They lived in Winnipeg for five years before moving to Brandon in June of 1968 when Arthur was transferred with Federated Coop. Patricia enjoyed life. She loved horses, working outside in her flower beds, getting away for the weekend at their cabin in Oak Lake and visiting her daughter Peggy and her family in Missouri spending time sight seeing with them and making perogies. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She was very involved in their lives going to horse back riding lessons, music concerts, and attending football games in the rain, snow, or shine. She was a friend to all and always had the coffee pot on and Grandma's cookie jar was never empty. While Patricia's fight with cancer only lasted for a short time, it did allow her to see an outpouring of love, support, and prayers from family and friends. She always had visitors, cards, flowers and phone calls while she was in the hospital. We thank you all. She had a great impact on many lives and will be sadly missed and can never be replaced. Left to mourn her passing and cherish her memory are her husband Arthur of 43 years; daughter Peggy (Alan) and their children James and Mary; sons Richard, Allan (Pamela) and their children Aaron and Jessica; sisters Evelyn Overbeeke of Winnipeg, Manitoba, June Patzer of Beaconia, Manitoba and Carol (Lloyd) Zirk of Lac du Bonnet, Manitoba; brothers Alvin (Joyce) Olafson from Cache Creek, British Columbia; Jack Olafson and Elsa Van Munster of Victoria Beach, Manitoba. Patricia was predeceased by her parents Oscar and Jenny Olafson and brother Cecil Olafson. The Ceremony to Celebrate Patricia's life will be held on Saturday July 22, 2006 at the Grace Lutheran Church, 3101 Victoria Avenue at 2:00pm. Pastor Edmund Mielke will officiate. Urn bearer will be her Grandson Aaron Plato. Interment will follow in the Rosewood Memorial Gardens.
