Obituary

WESELOWSKI: The death of Orville E. Weselowski, of Brandon, beloved husband of Suzanne, occurred on Tuesday, January 23, 2007 in Penticton, British Columbia. Orville was a devoted family man. He thought the world of his three beautiful daughters, Cheryl, Karen and Angela and when the son-in-laws Tim, Lee and Gerry came into the picture he was proud of his expanding family. He took great joy in being "Grandpa" to five of the best little men, his grandsons, Eric, Jack, Brett, Edee and Noah. Orville was born in Sifton, MB on August 8, 1936, the son of William and Minnie Weselowski. He was raised in the Sifton area and obtained his education there. His love for wildlife started when he was very young. He spent lots of time searching for different kinds of birds and animals. Then in later years he even rescued baby eagles that had been abandoned. His fishing days also began at an early age with a home-made fishing rod. After obtaining a teaching certificate, he accepted teaching jobs in several communities and met Suzanne at one of them. They married and moved to northern Manitoba. There he experienced a new school atmosphere in working with the aboriginal children. He met many wonderful people and learned about their way of life. At this stage of his life, Orville became a father. He switched from teaching to Superintendent of Education. He and his growing family enjoyed life in the north. Friends were plentiful and fishing, camping, bird watching and photography were always a family affair. Retirement brought Orville and Suzanne to Brandon where he thought winters would be less severe, but found that mild winters are found in British Columbia. The summers always led him back to the north. Orville liked to compare notes on birds in birdfeeders with Cheryl and Tim. He enjoyed watching his grandsons play hockey and was proud of their success. Orville's eyes would light up when his baby grandson paid some attention to him. He really loved his family. He will be deeply missed by his wife, daughters, son-in-laws and grandsons. He will also be greatly missed by his sister, Deloris and her family. He will be welcomed in heaven by his loving parents. Divine Liturgy was Celebrated at St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church on Wednesday, January 31, 2007. Celebrant Rev. Fr. Michael Tkachuk. Cantor Stella Fedeniuk. Interment followed in the Brandon Cemetery. Donations in memory of Orville may be made to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba R3B 0V9.
