WHITE: Olive Beverly White (nee Shurb) passed away August 22, 2001 at the Assiniboine Centre. Olive was born December 27, 1921 to parents Frank and Dora Shurb. Olive lived and worked in Brandon all her life. She enjoyed going to work each day, at Yaeger's Furs, where she worked for 44 years. She was an outgoing person who loved her customers and staff alike. Olive married Bill White in April of 1943. They enjoyed many years together before Bill's passing in 1988. Though Olive had no children of her own, she had many nieces and nephews who saw Olive as a second mother. She was an active member of the Lionels for many years. Olive often talked about her treks around the country, she took with the club. In later years, she became a member of St. Augustine's Catholic Women's League, as well as part of the congregation. Olive would spend many weeks at Sandy Lake enjoying the many family visits. Olive was predeceased by her parents; her husband Bill; brother Emil; and sister Ruby. She has one surviving sister, Jean Cole, of California. Olive will be sadly missed by her nieces and nephews and by special friend Peter Hersack. Prayers will be said at Memories Chapel, 330 - 18th Street North, on Sunday, August 26, 2001 at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Augustine's Roman Catholic Church on Monday, August 27, 2001. Celebrant was Rev. Fr. Leo Fernandes. Interment followed in the Brandon Cemetery. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations to your favourite charity may be made in Olive's memory.
