STAPLETON: The death of Olive May Stapleton of Brandon, age 83 years, occurred in the city on Friday, September 1, 2006. Funeral arrangements are pending with Memories Chapel and Pre-Planning Centre, 727-0330.


STAPLETON: Olive May Stapleton passed away on September 1, 2006 at Assiniboine Centre in Brandon surrounded by her loving family. Olive was born Tuesday, April 3, 1923 on the Glenburnie District home farm near Moore Park, Manitoba. She attended school at Glenburnie and Moore Park. On December 24, 1941, Olive married Orville Shields Stapleton. They set up their home and raised their three children at 309 Franklin St. in Brandon, where they resided for 55 years. After Dad's death, Mom moved into Westman Lion's Manor where she was blessed with a great family of friends. There she enjoyed many activities and fellowship. Many rewarding years of worshiping and working with youth and women's groups were spent at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church as a leader of CGIT and a member of WMS and NSF. In later years, Mom and Dad became members of Central United Church. Mom truly treasured her sisterhood in the Naomi Rebekah Lodge and the Centennial Bowling League. Mom loved her home and garden, but her greatest pleasure was her family. She especially cherished her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mom is lovingly survived by her two daughters Eleanor (Gordon) Robinson and Carol (Bill) Shelvey; son Gary (Doreen) Stapleton; grandchildren: Wayne (Bev) Robinson - Alex and Tyler, Doreen (Darcy) Lytle - Lauren and Paige, David (Candi) Shelvey - Erika and Tawny, Cheryl (Barry) Lee - Kyle and Ashley, Brent (Tobie) Stapleton - Jade, Scott (Jodie) Stapleton - Brendan, Kris and Scott Gordon. Mom is also survived by: one sister Florence Davidson; her brother Ken (Shirley) Davidson; brother-in-law Fred Brandt; sisters-in-law Edna Boyd, Ruth Curle, Irene Dawson; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mom was predeceased by; her husband of 56 years, Orville; her parents Peter and Elizabeth Davidson; sisters Eileen Boyd and Kathleen Brandt. A Service of Remembrance will be held at Central United Church, 327-8th Street, Brandon on Tuesday (today), September 5, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Laird Russell-Yearwood officiating. Olive's grandsons will be active pallbearers. Mom will be laid to rest beside Dad at Sparling Cemetery. Donations in Olive's memory may be made to a charity of one's choice.
