PERRETT: Olive Ada Perrett (nee Couch) of Rivers, MB passed away at her home surrounded by her family, on Sunday, August 13, 2000, peacefully and with dignity...reflecting the way she lived her life. Olive was born on December 15, 1912 at Daly, MB. She attended school at Daly School and played organ for the Daly United Church. In 1934 she married Eric Perrett, and throughout their 62 years of marriage they lived in Wheatland, Bradwardine, Langenberg, Minnedosa, Portage la Prairie, Brandon, Kenora and Thunder Bay, where they raised eight children. Olive retired with Eric and returned to Rivers in 1973. She was an active member of the 50+ club, where she served as secretary-treasurer for a number of years. Olive is survived by her children: Elaine (Keith) Calen, Saratoga, B.C.; Laura Irvine, Crossfield, AB; Dorothy O'Donnell, Thunder Bay, ON; Kenneth (Francine), Winnipeg, MB; June (Robert) Fox, Airdrie, AB; Janet, Calgary, AB; Donna (Daniel) Friesen, Valleyview, AB, and 23 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and on great-great grandchild, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Also surviving are one brother-in-law and a number of sisters-in-law, who played a very important role in Olive's life. Olive was predeceased by her husband Eric George (January 1997); son Douglas (July 1996); her sons-in-law Jim O'Donnell (January 1998), and Brian Irvine (February 1998); a great grandson Eric Robert Irvine in May 1985; and two granddaughters: one newborn in 1961 and Sherri Calen in 1963. She was also predeceased by her brothers Russell Norman and Leslie Clarence; and her sisters Florence Edna and Effie Evelyn Draper. Funeral service was held August 17, 2000 at 2:00 p.m. at the Rivers United Church, Rivers, Manitoba. Rev. Glenna Beauchamp officiated. Olive's grandchildren were honorary pallbearers. Grandsons Kevin O'Donnell, Greg Perrett, Eric Perrett, Robert Irvine, Christopher Perrett and Solomon Friesen served as active pallbearers. Interment followed at the Rivers Cemetery. Donations in memory of Olive may be made to Riverdale Palliative Care Fund or to Riverdale Handivan Fund, Rivers, MB, R0K 1X0 or to a charity of choice. Arrangements were with Memories Chapel & Pre-Planning Centre, Brandon.
