Obituary

Olive Sarah Boyd (nee Hood) died Tuesday, May 29, 2001 at the age of 89 years. Olive leaves saddened her sister, Annabell Halliday; her children, Sharyn (Stewart) Hayter; Robin (Dianne Boyd-Gray) Boyd; grandchildren, Stephen (Trina) and Shannon Hayter; Nolene (Bruce) Boyd; Danielle (Jan) Andersen; and Bogey Boyd; great grandchildren, Emma; Thea and Zach. She was pre-deceased by her husband of 54 years, Rob in 1993. Olive was born in Kingston, Ontario, and as a child moved to Toronto. She met her husband and raised her family there. In her latter years Olive came to Brandon to be near her daughter and grandchildren. For the past twelve years she has been a happy part of Brandon's senior scene, playing bells with the Happy Haven Bell Ringers, an active member of Seniors for Seniors creative writing group, being involved in Knox United Church activities and being a friend to all who knew her. Brandon was a happy and liberating time in her life and we, as her children, feel she would want all who knew her to take a moment, smile, and give thanks for their good fortune. A time of Visitation will be held at Memories Chapel, 330 - 18th Street North, on Thursday evening (tonight) between 7:00 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. The Service in Celebration of Olive's Life will be held on Friday, June 1, 2001 at 2:00 p.m. at Knox United Church, 451 - 8th Street, with Rev. Don Hudson officiating. Interment will follow at the Brandon Cemetery. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations in memory of Olive may be made to the Commonwealth Air Training Plan Museum, Box 3, Gr. 520, R.R.#5, Brandon, Manitoba R7A 5Y5, the Brandon General Hospital Foundation or to a charity of choice. Arrangements are with Memories Chapel & Pre-Planning Centre, 727-0330. Memorials
