SMITH: The death of Olga Angelene "Blondie" Smith occurred suddenly at the Brandon Regional Health Centre on Thursday, September 13, 2007. Olga was born in Brandon on September 26, 1925. She married Donald West Smith on September 27, 1947. Olga, more commonly called Blondie, worked at Federal Pioneer Electric until her arthritis forced her to stop working. Blondie was a loving wife and mother. She kept her home meticulously spotless. Blondie loved to cook such items as perogies, cabbage rolls and her homemade dill pickles were enjoyed by all. She spent many hours cleaning fish that the family had caught. She was a dedicated individual in whatever she chose to do. Blondie enjoyed family card games and visiting with all of her relatives, social events with Manitoba Hydro employees, visits with neighbors, dancing, and traveling to Bermuda and England. She belonged to the Royal Canadian Legion and the Hydro-X Club. Surviving are Blondie's only son, Wayne (Gayle); brother Bill (Jessie) Roberts; sisters Anne (Ed) Sherban, Tillie Grant and a sister-in-law Anne Byers. Cremation has taken place. The graveside service was held on Monday, September 17, 2007 at the Veterans' Section of the Brandon Cemetery. The Rev. Dr. Dale Woods officiated.
