Obituary

TURNER: It is with great sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of Ross Turner, beloved husband of Ieleen, on Wednesday, November 4, 1998 with his family by his side. Ross was born, May 25, 1925 at the family farm near Invermay, Saskatchewan, where he was raised and educated. In 1948, along with his family, he moved to the Brandon area and purchased the farm at 4-9-19, where he lived until his passing. Ross married Ieleen Porterfield at Little Souris Church, June 26, 1954 and raised four sons; Ken, Bob, Bill and Gord. In his active years, Ross was involved in the Little Souris Church and Community Club and in the Cornwallis Red Wings Baseball Club, which all of his sons played for. He was an avid curler, fisherman and a proud hard working farmer. Since his retirement from farming several years ago, Ross has had the greatest pleasure watching his grandchildren grow and play at the farm. Ross was predeceased by his parents, one brother and five sisters. Left to mourn his passing are: his wife of 44 years, Ieleen, sons; Ken (Barb); Robert (Jo-Ann), Trent, Brock and Karly; Bill (Judy), Tyler and Teighan; Gord (Janet), Kyle and Justin. A brother, Anthony and sisters; Beth, Ella and Ruth and their families, his brothers-in-law, Bill Porterfield (Joyce)and family and Fred Reynolds and family also survive. The funeral service was held at Trinity United Church on Saturday, November 7, 1998 with Rev. Dorrie Flook officiating. Ross's eldest grandson played, "Amazing Grace" on the violin. His four sons acted as pallbearers. A private burial service was held at the Brandon cemetery. A time of fellowship was held at the church following the ceremony.
