Obituary

SMITH: Norman Vernon Smith, passed away in Brandon on Thursday, July 7, 2005. A time of visitation for family and friends will be held at Memories Chapel, 330-18th Street North on Monday evening, July 11, 2005 from 7:00 pm. to 8:00 pm. The Ceremony to Celebrate Norman's Life will be held at Memories Chapel, on Tuesday, July 12, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in the Brandon Cemetery. Flowers are gratefully declined. Friends who wish may make a donation in memory of Norman to the Brandon Regional Health Center Foundation, 150 McTavish Avenue East, Brandon, MB R7A 2B3 or to the Brandon Humane Society, 2200 17th Street East, Brandon, MB R7A 7M6. SMITH: Norman Vernon Smith of Brandon passed away on Thursday, July 7, 2005. Norman was born to Jas and Laura Smith on November 27, 1930, in Brandon, MB. When Norman was three, his family moved to a farm near Sinclair, MB. He attended Clover Hill School until grade five, Antler School from grades 6 - 12, in 1948 he attended Brandon's Agricultural School, 1949 attended the University of Winnipeg, Agricultural Program and from 1952 - 1955 he attended the B.M.H.C. and completed the Psychoactive Nursing Program. Norman worked in the pasteurizer dairy of the B.M.H.C., upon completion of his nursing program, and then worked at the B.M.H.C. until retiring in 1990. Norman loved to go fishing, hunting, gardening and spending time with his granddaughters. Left to cherish his memory is his son Mark (Brenda) Smith; granddaughters Tami and Tara; nephew Brent Gill and niece Wendy Gill. Norman was predeceased by his wife Patricia Ann Smith (nee Gill); parents Jas and Laura Smith; and brother-in-law Jim Gill. The Ceremony to Celebrate Norman's Life was held at Memories Chapel, on Tuesday, July 12, 2005. Interment was held in the Brandon Cemetery. Pallbearers were John Smyth, Stuart Moir, Doug Ward, Brent Gill, Taso Spiropoulos, and Clarence McKinnon. Honorary Pallbearers were Lou Wilson, Alfed Twells, Alvin Irwin, Jim Beedie and Merv Dixon. Flowers are gratefully declined.
