Obituary

Norman Nevins passed away with his family by his side on Thursday, December 7, 2000 at the Brandon Regional Health Centre. Norm was born on July 26, 1924 on the family farm in the Chater District. He received his education at Clinton School. Norm farmed with his father and spent the winters in Alberta at the logging camps. He later became employed with the Manitoba Telephone System as a linesman for 32 years. During his earlier years he played baseball and enjoyed hunting with his brothers. In his later years Norm spent most of his time outdoors in the yard. He was a life member with the Pioneers of America. Norm is survived by his beloved wife, Muriel of Brandon, daughters; Rose Taylor of Swan River, Loraine (Ken) Ingram of Saskatoon, Norma (Bill) Benson of Brandon, Lynda (Wally) Johnston of Brandon, Freda Kadeshuk of Brandon, sons; Norman Bailey of B.C., Rick (Louise) Bailey of Brandon, Barry (Mary Anne) Bailey of Brandon, daughter-in-law; Loraine Bailey of Brandon, sisters; Mary Stuart of Brandon, Irene (Dick) Kerton of Ontario, Margaret Anne Lucas of B.C., brothers; Jack (Pat) Nevins of Alberta, sister-in-law; Barb Nevins of Brandon, nineteen grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren, numerous special nieces, nephews and cousins. He is predeceased by his mother Margaret, father Sam, son Sidney Bailey, brothers; Bill and Stan. Norm was a very special man and will be greatly missed by all his family and friends. A time of visitation will be held at Memories Chapel on Monday evening, December 11, 2000 between 7:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. The Funeral Service for Norman will be held at Memories Chapel, 330 - 18th Street North, at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 12, 2000. Rev. Garry MacDowall of St. Mary's Anglican Church will officiate. Pallbearers will be Mark Bailey, Jaimie Bailey, Derek Bailey, Darrell Bailey, Christine Bailey and Justin Kadeshuk. Interment will be at the Brandon Cemetery at a later date. Flowers are gratefully declined.
