Obituary

BARR: Norman Barr, born May 18, 1935 in Carberry, Manitoba passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 22, 2006 at the Kelowna General Hospital. Norman will be lovingly missed by his wife Alice, of 50 years, of Kelowna, five children; Gordon (Lorraine), Portland, Oregon, Karen (Rob), Oakbank, Manitoba, Lorraine (Wayne), Pinawa, Manitoba, Shaun (Shiela), Kelowna British Columbia, Errol (Kim), Las Vegas; thirteen grandchildren; one great granddaughter; one brother, Richard, Nanaimo, British Columbia; one sister Kathleen (Ken) Smith, Brandon, Manitoba. His parents, Townsley and Lona, predeceased him. Norman worked for Manitoba? Department of Highways for 35 years, retiring in 1992. Norman and Alice lived fourteen years in Emerson, Manitoba, ten years in Morden, Manitoba, and for fifteen years in Winnipeg, Manitoba. After retirement the couple moved to Clear Lake, Manitoba, where they spent their summers, enjoying their winters in Meza, Arizona. After Norman? health failed, they relocated to Kelowna, British Columbia in 2000. One of Norman? joys was traveling. He was also a great admirer of J.F. Kennedy, and he loved to make children laugh. In accordance with Norman? wishes, cremation has taken place. The Graveside Service for family and friends to Celebrate Norman? Life will be held at the Brandon Cemetery on Monday, May 8, 2006 at 1:00 pm.. Arlene Robertson will officiate. Donations in memory of Norman may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba 3-824 18th Street, Brandon, Manitoba, R7A 5B7.
