MCTAGGART: The death of Nina McTaggart, age 97 years of Brandon, occurred Wednesday, November 17, 1999 at the Assiniboine Centre, Brandon Regional Health Centre. Nina was born in Kincardine, Ontario on October 14, 1902. She moved at an early age to Togo, Saskatchewan and later to Kamsack, Saskatchewan. Nina married Harry Robert McTaggart in 1928. Nina and Harry lived at Harding, Manitoba where they farmed until retirement. Upon retirement they moved into Brandon. Nina was very busy as a farm wife: gardening, canning, and baking. She was actively involved in her community serving at many events, bonspiels, fairs, and funerals. She belonged to the W.M.S. and W.I. in Harding. Nina enjoyed reading her Bible, inspirational books, and hosting visitors. She always put the coffee pot on and served fresh homemade goodies. Nina is survived by her loving daughter, Evelyn Koehler; granddaughter Cheryl Lynn (Brian) Matewish; and great grandchildren Michelle and Sean Matewish all of Brandon. Sister, Agnes McKay of Vancouver; and nieces, Mavis York (Bill) and family of Bellingham, WA and Sally Church (Bill) of Blaine, WA and Donna Fraser of Saskatoon and her children Shane of Calgary and Kelsey of Medicine Hat also survive. She was predeceased by her loving husband Harry in 1983; 2 brothers; 5 sisters; son-in-law Merle Koehler; infant granddaughter Maxine Denise; and a special nephew, Ian Fraser, whom Nina raised. The Ceremony to Celebrate Nina's Life was held at Central United Church, Small Chapel on Saturday, November 20, 1999 at 11:00 a.m. The Rev. Laird Russell-Yearwood officiated. Pallbearers were: Clare McTaggart and Roy McKenzie. All present were considered honorary pallbearers. Interment followed in the Greenwood Cemetery, Harding, Manitoba.
