LUKIANCHUK: The death of Nick Lukianchuk of Brandon occurred at the Brandon Regional Health Centre on Wednesday, March 8, 2006. A time of visitation will be held at Memories Chapel, 330-18th Street North on Friday, March 10, 2006 from 7:00 pm. to 8:00 pm. The Funeral Ceremony will be held at Memories Chapel on Saturday, March 11, 2006 at 2:00 pm. Arlene Robertson will officiate. A private family interment service will take place at a later date at Horod, Manitoba. Flowers are gratefully declined. LUKIANCHUK: Nick Lukianchuk of Brandon, passed away at the Brandon Regional Health Centre on Wednesday, March 8, 2006. Nick was born on January 1, 1928 in Horod, Manitoba, the son of Anolie and Telka Lukianchuk. He was raised on a farm near Horod, where he also received his education. After leaving school, he set out to work in the mining industry in Northern Manitoba and Ontario. He then went on to painting elevators in Alberta, then made his way to Yellowknife, where he met his future wife, Mary Lachowski. They were married in 1962. After they were married, Nick started his own trucking company. He left the trucking industry and went on to build warehouses and leased them to the government for several years. Nick decided to retire and sold his business to his step-son, Leo, before moving to Brandon with Mary in 1975. Nick was a member of the Sokol Hall and the Legion. He enjoyed curling, cribbage, hunting, fishing and traveling. Nick is survived by: his wife, Mary; brother, Pete; sisters, Lena Melnyk, Kay (Alex) Toraryk and Mary (Allan) Olson and sister-in-law, Anne Lukianchuk. He is also survived by: his step-son, Leo (Teresa) Lachowski; grandchildren, Krysta and Scott; and great grandchild, Brooke. The Funeral Ceremony was held at Memories Chapel on Saturday, March 11, 2006. Arlene Robertson officiated. All in attendance were considered honorary bearers.
