Obituary

HOMINICK: The death of Nicholas "Nick" Hominick, of Brandon, beloved husband of Peggy and dear father of Carol, Lynda and Barbara, occurred at his residence on Thursday, November 3, 2005. The Funeral Ceremony will be held at Memories Chapel, 330-18th Street North on Tuesday, November 8, 2005 at Rev. Michael Skliros, Legion Padre will officiate. A private graveside service will be held at the Brandon cemetery veterans' section. Flowers are gratefully declined. Friends who wish may make a donation in memory of Nick to the Canadian cancer Society, 193 Sherbrook Street, Winnipeg, MB R3C 2B7. Complete obituary information will follow. HOMINICK: Nicholas "Nick" Hominick of Brandon passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, November 3, 2005 after a lengthy illness. He was born March 25, 1921 in Brandon. Nick served overseas in the Second World War, where he met his wife, Kathleen (Peggy) Mooney. They were married in England in 1942 and celebrated sixty-three wonderful years together. Nick served with the Seaforth Highlanders and finished with the Westminster Regiment in 1945. After the war, he returned to Brandon, where he worked for the C.P.R. In 1946, his wife and daughter joined him. He then was employed with McGavins Bakery and Canada Bread. At the time of his retirement, he was employed with the Manitoba Telephone System. He was a life long member of the Royal Canadian Legion. Nick especially enjoyed his summers at the cottage with family and friends. He liked getting together with his morning coffee group. Nick is survived by: his loving wife, Peggy; daughters, Carol (Peter) Pochynok of Brandon, Lynda (George) Sutherland of Winnipeg and Barbara (Don) Stewart of Calgary. He leaves his grandchildren, Kathy (Dave) Olson of Lethbridge, Karrie Sutherland, Rory and Keel Stewart of Calgary and great granddaughter, Kellie Olson. Nick also leaves his brother, Rudy Hominick of The Pas, sisters-in-law, numerous nieces and nephews. Nick was predeceased by; his father, Fred and mother, Bernice, brothers, Harry, Emil and John. The Funeral Ceremony was held at Memories Chapel, 330-18th Street North on Tuesday, November 8, 2005. Rev. Michael Skliros, Legion Padre, officiated. Honor Guard were members of the Royal Canadian Legion. A private graveside and interment service of the cremated remains was held at the Veterans' Section of the Brandon Cemetery on Wednesday, November 9, 2005. Flowers are gratefully declined.
