RAHKONEN (WIRTH): Nettie Rahkonen (nee Dutka) formerly of Kin Village, 1511 Rosser Avenue, beloved mother of Marg (Ralph) Arnold, Brian (Bea) Wirth and Judy (Jim) Walmsley, passed away on Saturday, January 31, 2004 at the Brandon Regional Health Centre. The Funeral Ceremony will be held at Memories Chapel, 330-18th Street North on Thursday, February 5, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. Rev. Joan Jarvis of Central United Church will officiate. Interment will follow in the Brandon Cemetery. Friends who wish may make a donation in memory of Nettie to the Canadian Cancer Society, Manitoba Division, 193 Sherbrook Street, Winnipeg, MB R3C 2B7. RAHKONEN (WIRTH): Nettie Rahkonen (nee Dutka) formerly of Kin Village, 1511 Rosser Avenue, passed away on Saturday, January 31, 2004 at the Brandon Regional Health Centre. Nettie was born on July 28, 1917 in Rivers, Manitoba, the daughter of Mike and Annie Dutka. She was raised on the family farm, just outside of Rivers along with her sisters, Mary, Rose and Helen; brothers Bill, Harry, John, Fred and George. Nettie attended school in Rivers. She later worked on several farms for families in the area, at the Rivers Base, and also worked as cook, housecleaner and chambermaid. Nettie spent most of her years as a homemaker, which she enjoyed. She loved to travel and spent time in Nashville and British Columbia (including Expo '86). She lived in Daly City, California, Rhinelander, Wisconsin, Churchill, MB and Vancouver, BC. Nettie enjoyed bingo, knitting, reading, following the soap operas on television, comedies, music, and cooking for her family and friends. She also embroidered and made many beautiful tablecloths, which she gave as gifts and also sold. Nettie especially enjoyed her years spent living in Kin Village in Brandon. She is survived by: her son Brian (Bea) Wirth; daughters Judy (Jim) Walmsley and Marg (Ralph) Arnold; grandchildren Kathy, Bill,Therese, Lori and Tanya; great grandchildren Hailey, Lauren and Amanda; sister Mary of Rivers, several nieces and nephews. Nettie was predeceased by: husbands Bill Wirth and Wilho Rahkonen; parents Mike and Annie Dutka; brothers Bill, Fred, John, Harry and George; sisters Rose and Helen. The Funeral Ceremony was held at Memories Chapel on Thursday, February 5, 2004. Rev. Joan Jarvis of Central United Church officiated. Pallbearers were Gordon Allen, David Allen and Richard Allen.
