Obituary

GEORGE: Muriel George (nee Melville) passed away at her residence, Hillcrest Place, on Friday, October 14, 2005. Muriel was born on August 27, 1917 in London, England and lived the war years in Worthing, Sussex. She met and married Russell George, a Canadian soldier, on June 24, 1944. Muriel came to Canada as a war bride in 1946 and settled in Neepawa, Manitoba. In her early years she helped organize the Neepawa War Brides and was active with the Legion Ladies Auxiliary. She also enlisted in the Canadian Women's Army Corps. They moved to Brandon in 1964, and Muriel managed Fred's Drycleaners for 10 years. Muriel and Russ retired in 1974, and moved to Cranbrook, BC. She moved back to Brandon in 2001. Muriel enjoyed gardening, crocheting and spent many hours playing cards. Her wonderful sense of humour was a special asset and she put smiles on many faces. She will be lovingly remembered by; her five sons, Robert (Ilene), Brian (Ann), Terry, David (Shirl) and Ian (Sandi); twelve grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. Muriel was predeceased by: her husband Russ and grandson, Jeff. A family gathering in Muriel's memory will be held at a later date. Expressions of sympathy may be forwarded to memorieschapel@mts.net.
