Our hearts are broken as we share the passing our beloved mom, Mollie Louise Attridge on March 05, 2025, after a short battle with cancer.
August 27, 1952, mom's journey into this world began to her parents Roy and Isabella Attridge in a home built by her dad at the Rapid City Junction. School days were spent at the little one room schoolhouse of Tremaine. Mollie remained friends with many of the girls and they were known as the "Tremaine girls". She graduated from Elton Collegiate in 1971. Her interests took her to a floral design course in Ontario.
Mollie then moved to Brandon and worked a few jobs at Parker's Restaurant, Leech Printing, Webber Printing, Mollie's Mending and Rideau Park. Her ultimate job was Gramma extraordinaire daycare for her 4 grandchildren – Darius, Zach, Zane and Tori.
Being a single mom to Karen (Gracie) and Kenny (the favourite) she worked hard and had many passions – gardening, crafting, knitting, sewing, quilting, baking and cooking. During her lifetime she had her own business – Mollie's Mending.
Mom spent countless hours and got so much enjoyment at ball diamonds and hockey rinks with Kenny's teams. She enjoyed camping trips across Manitoba as well as trips to New York, Cuba and Mexico with Karen's family.
Mom personified thoughtfulness, kindness, compassion, acceptance and love. Our mom never forgot a date and there are not many people that could say that they didn't hear from her on a birthday, anniversary, St Patricks' Day, a significant life event or just because you needed some TLC. Mom never forgot!
Mom was ever and always on the hunt for a bargain and thrift store treasures. Her car was on autopilot to the Mennonite Store or Teen Challenge.
Mollie will be forever loved and remembered by her daughter, Karen Gwyer. grandson Zach Gwyer (Kadee), great granddaughter Aliyah Gwyer and grandson Zane Gwyer; son Kenny (Joanna), Attridge, grandson Darius Attridge (Dez) and granddaughter Tori Attridge (Darian); brother Gord (Adele) Attridge; favorite niece Bridget (Jason) Hiebert and great niece Kaytee Hiebert.
A Celebration of Mollie's Life will take place at Memories Chapel, 330 18th Street North, Brandon, MB on Friday, March 14, 2025, at 11:00 a.m.
Donations in memory of Mollie can be made to The Sandra Schmirler Foundation for Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Sandraschmirler.org.
