THOMAS: Pearl Thomas of Brandon, beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother, passed away at her residence, Fairview Home on Friday, October 19, 2007. Pearl was born at Goodlands, Manitoba on November 28, 1919, one of four children born to Charles and Agnes Morrison. Her early years were spent on the family farm and attending Mons School at Goodlands. Pearl married Meryle Sheppard of Waskada, in July 1939. Meryle served overseas, then after World War II, they purchase a farm in the Goodlands area farming there until 1957, when the family moved to Brandon. She moved with her family of seven children to Brandon, where she and her husband owned and operated The Sugar Bowl Corner Store. Pearl also was employed with the S.S. Kresgee Company and then with numerous retail stores in downtown Brandon. She later worked at the Brandon Hospital as a Nurses Aid. Her last work prior to retirement was with the Woolco Department Store in Brandon. Pearl always enjoyed helping people and this was most evident in her work ethic wherever she was employed. Following retirement, she was one of the founders and organizers of the "Woolco Silver Links". Her husband Meryle predeceased her in 1976. She later met Ivan Thomas and they were married and spent twenty- three years together until Ivan's passing earlier this year. Pearl was also predeceased by: her parents, Charles and Agnes; son Kenneth, and brother Jack Morrison and a grandson, Larry Maley. She leaves her beloved family: Sons, Larry (Louise) Sheppard, Jack (Pat) Sheppard; daughters, Deanna Sheppard, Lyn (David) Fefchak, Betty (Bernard) Kasprick, Bonnie (Ron) Taylor and Peggy (Ned) Witherbee and step-sons, Ron (Nancy) Thomas and Ken (Jacquie) Thomas. There are twenty grandchildren and twenty-one great grandchildren. Pearl also leaves two sisters, Hazel Tyreman and Betty (Les) Lowden and a sister-in-law Geraldine Morrison. There are numerous nieces and nephews. The family extends an invitation to join them in celebrating Pearl's life on Tuesday, October 23, 2007, with a time of viewing to be held at Central United Church, 327 8th Street from 11:00 am. - 1:45 pm. with the ceremony at 2:00 pm. The Rev. Shannon McCarthy will officiate. Interment will follow in the Brandon cemetery.
