PHINNEY: After a brave battle with cancer, Milton Warren "Milt" Phinney said his good-byes on Wednesday, May 31, 2000. Milt was born in Antler, Saskatchewan on November 4, 1930. He moved to Brandon as a youngster and attended local schools. He began his working career at Fedoruks Grocery Store, CP Rail and Seven-Up. In 1949 he married Sarah and they had a family of one daughter and four sons. Milt was employed for 30 years with the Brandon Fire Department; an active, dedicated and devoted man. During that time, beginning in 1963, he also began a construction business; something that started as a hobby but inevitably became his passion. Milt pursued this passion as he developed his company, and continued his business, M. Phinney Construction, after retiring from the Brandon Fire Department. Many will remember Milt as a fastball pitcher, whether he played as a young guy or, on the "Old Timers League". His sharp eye eventually caught Joyce, whom he met in 1990 and married in 1993. During their 10 years together, they shared many interests, including UCT activities, social events, travel and many other treasured times together. Milt is survived by his wife Joyce; four children: Judy Walker (Tracey, Troy, and Teri-Lynne); Bob (Christine, Ryan and Bobby), Larry/Jeanette (Scott, Mark and Angie) and Jeff; grandchildren Laura-Lynne and Trevor; great grandchildren Brittany and Bradley; three brothers; two sisters and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his extended family; Brian and Debbie Mitton (Dustin, Brandon and Devon) and Bob and Penny Ludwig (Jordan and Dylan). Milt was predeceased by his parents; one brother and son Glen. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations in memory of Milt may be made to the Brandon Firefighters Burn Fund, #1 Fire Hall, c/o Terry Browett, 637 Princess Ave., Brandon, MB, R7A 0P2 or to Westman Dreams for Kids, 1435 Princess Ave, Brandon, MB, R7A 0R6. Cremation has taken place. The Ceremony to Celebrate Milt's Life will be held at Memories Chapel, 330 - 18th Street North, Brandon on Saturday, June 3, 2000 at 1:30 p.m. Rev. Bob Wiebe will officiate. Interment will be in the Brandon Cemetery. Arrangements are with Memories Chapel & Pre-Planning Centre, 727-0330.
"MILT:
We wish you
the sun; to gently warm your face,
the Moon; to lend its magic glow to guide you safely home,
And the Stars; for you to wish upon to make your dreams come true."
LOVE,
Your Family and Friends
