Mildred Ruth Goodman (nee Bridgeman), a truly wonderful lady went to find peace at last on Tuesday, January 6, 2004 at the Brandon Regional Health Centre, after a lengthy battle with cancer. Mom passed away with her loved ones at her side. She will go on forever in our hearts, never more than a thought or heartbeat away. She loved us all too well and her love will endure, even if her body could not. Millie was born on January 24, 1932 and was the 8th of 15 children born to Margery and Harry Bridgeman. She was born and raised on a farm near Bradwardine, MB. Her siblings are Ted, Joy, Jim, Glen, Tom, Ine, Jack, Maurice, Muriel and very special sister and friend Olive. Millie married Dennis Goodman in 1953 and together they had six children: Randy (Bev), Elaine, Marlene (Andrew), Wendy (Charles), Terry (Crystal) and Scott. Millie and Dennis were blessed with 15 grandchildren: Trevor, Jessica, Samantha, Nicki, Darren, Kaitlin, Lindsay, Megan, Keaghan, Danielle, Michelle, Tineil, Coltin, Sydney, Nicki and one great grandchild, Madison. They were all especially loved and cherished and brought many hours of happiness to them. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and Goodman-in-laws. Millie was predeceased by her husband, Dennis; her parents; brothers, Don and Barry; sister, Myrtle and infant sister Hazel. After Dennis passed away in 2000, Millie was fortunate to find great comfort and love with her special friend, Harold Burkholder. They shared a brief but happy time together and the family will always be grateful to Harold for his devotion to Millie, She was a founding member of Riverview Curling Club, volunteered with the CNIB, she was active in the Shriner's and the Legion Ladies Auxiliaries. The funeral service will be held at Memories Chapel, 330-18th Street North, on Friday, January 9, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. A Private Family Interment Service will follow at Rosewood Memorial Gardens. Flowers are gratefully declined. Friends who wish may make a donation in memory of Millie to the Brandon Regional Health Centre Foundation for Palliative Care, 150 McTavish Avenue East, Brandon, MB R7A 2B3 or to a charity of choice.
