YULE: The death of Merlin Roy Yule, of Brandon, occurred at the Brandon Regional Health Centre on Thursday, June 8, 2000. Merle was born January 25, 1920, one of Stuart and Annie Yule's ten children. He was born and raised on the family farm near Killarney Lake, Manitoba. Merle received his education in Killarney and at the age of 16 went to work on a relative's farm in Cherry Valley, Ontario. In July of 1941 he joined the Air Force and was sent overseas from December 1941 to October 1945. Merle's assignments included time served in England and Africa transporting bombs to planes. Upon returning to Manitoba he met Alma McKenzie in Brandon where they were married on May 20, 1950. Alma and Merle celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this spring. Over the years Merle took great interest in golfing, curling, dancing and enjoyed watching baseball. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Alma; son Brent (Janice) Yule; daughters: Linda Tremblay (Peter) and Judy Judd (Rick); grandchildren: Jenness Moffat (Neil), Rochelle, Andrew, Jennifer, Jason, Nicole, and Jaye. Also left to cherish his memory are his brothers: Les, Lorne, Grant and Jim Yule; sisters: Winona Gradidge, Mary Foster, Ruth Ballance and Muriel Cherry. Merle was predeceased by his parents and one sister Lillian. The ceremony to celebrate Merle's life was held at Trinity United Church on Monday, June 12, 2000 with Rev. John Nesbitt officiating. Honorary pallbearers were Merle's grandchildren: Nicole, Jaye, Andrew, Rochelle, Jenness, Jennifer, Jason. Pallbearers were family friends: Murray and Eileen Earl, Dick and Alice Wesley, Austin and Vivian Taylor, Dan and Clara Neets, and Evelyn Thompson. Interment followed in the Brandon Cemetery. Flowers are gratefully declined.
