Obituary

The death of Melvin Lee Anderson, of Brandon, occurred in the city on Saturday, September 28, 2002. Melvin was born on May 6, 1926, in the R.M. of Dufferin, near Carman, Manitoba obtaining his schooling at Carman. He enlisted in the army in 1942, and served for 2 years. Melvin worked at various jobs, before starting with Manitoba Hydro, where he worked for 34 years. He belonged to the Hydro Ex and was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #3. His interests were golf and cribbage. Melvin is survived by his three sons and one daughter: Kelly (Susan) Anderson and children, Ryan, Rob, Brittney; Perry (Jackie) Anderson and son, Bradrick; Trudy (Shane) Friedrich and children, Gunnar, Garrett; and Mark (Shelley) Anderson. He also leaves his companion of fourteen years, Marg Nadler. He is also survived by a brother, Cliff (Laurine) Anderson of Winnipeg and their family. Mr. Anderson was predeceased by his parents, Roy and Esther Anderson. The funeral service will be held at Memories Chapel, 330 - 18th Street North on Wednesday, October 2, 2002 at 1:00 p.m. Reverend Don Hudson of Knox United Church will officiate. Grandson, Ryan Anderson will be the Urn bearer. Interment will follow at Rosewood Memorial Gardens. Donations in memory of Melvin may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Manitoba Division, 193 Sherbrook Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3C 2B7. Arrangements are with Memories Chapel & Pre-Planning Centre, 727-0330.
