Obituary

PRITSCHAU: Maynard Allan Pritschau of Brandon passed away at the Brandon Regional Health Centre on Tuesday, August 24, 1999. Maynard was born on April 21, 1929 in Sherman County, Nebraska to parents Waldo and Minnie Pritschau. He received his education in Nebraska, USA and upon graduation was employed across Canada in a variety of jobs. Maynard worked with the Brandon Fire Department from 1957-1967. Between 1967 and 1988 he was employed with the Department of National Defense, CFB Shilo Fire Department. Maynard was very athletic in his early years and enjoyed baseball, swimming, scuba diving and later badminton. He was an accomplished wrestler receiving the silver medal in 1952 and 1955 in the Middle Weight Division at the Wrestling Championship of Manitoba; the gold medalist in 1956 in the Light Weight Division at the Wrestling Championship of Manitoba and also won the "Albert Olson Light Heavy Weight Trophy" that same year. Maynard is survived by his wife, Patricia; daughters: Derra Jahn (Blair) of Calgary and Cheryle Jahn of Brandon; son Gordon Pritschau of Brandon; grandchildren: Jason, Sara, Ryan, Peter, Stephanie and Amanda Jahn. Also surviving are his mother, Minnie Pritschau of Ravenna, Nebraska; sisters: Sandra Osborne of Wyoming, USA and Lois Shoop (Ron) of Ravenna, Nebraska; and sister-in-law, Inez Pritschau. Maynard was predeceased by his brother Robert Waldo Pritschau and one daughter, Deborah. A time of visitation will be held on Saturday evening, August 28,1999 at Memories Chapel, 330 - 18th Street North, Brandon between 7:30 and 8:30 p.m. Cremation will follow. The Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, July 1, 2000 in Ravenna, Nebraska, USA. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations in memory of Maynard may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 42 McTavish Avenue E., Brandon, MB, R7A 2B2. Arrangements are with Memories Chapel & Pre-Planning Centre, 727-0330.
