WILLIAMSON: Following a brief illness, Mavis Margaret Williamson (Yerex) passed away in Brandon on Wednesday, November 15, 2006. Cherishing her memory are her husband and best friend of 47 years, John; three sons Dale (Faye), Garry and David (Elizabeth). Her life was especially enriched by her grandchildren: Alison and Eric, Elyssa, Bryanna and Brock, and Robyn. The third youngest of ten children to Noble and Irene Yerex, Mavis was born in Neepawa and raised on the family farm near Springhill. She finished high school in Neepawa and attended Winnipeg Normal School. She began her teaching career in Eckford and married John Williamson from Rossburn in 1959. With his career with Manitoba Pool, they moved to Chillon Siding, Solsgirth, Reston, Morris and Winnipeg before settling in Brandon. Mavis was an avid golfer, baker and sewer. She enjoyed playing cribbage, bridge, and solving word puzzles. Her greatest pleasures were drawn from her children and grandchildren. Mavis is also survived by three sisters: Erma, Muriel and Carol (Ed); three brothers: Max (Lorna), Daune (Joan) and Glen (Vera) and their families. Sisters-in-law: Alva and Greta (Donald) and brother-in-law Gordon (Brenda) and their families also survive. She also leaves Jim Fleger and John "Woody" Wood, her late sister's husbands. The Ceremony to Celebrate Mavis' Life was held at Memories Chapel, Brandon on Saturday, November 18, 2006 with Rev. Shannon McCarthy officiating.
