GODMAIRE:
Maurice Joseph Godmaire of Setting Lake (Thompson) Manitoba, passed away peacefully on December 23rd, 2005 at the Brandon Regional Health Centre, Brandon, Manitoba. Born September 20th, 1931 in La Sarre Quebec, Maurice was one of six children born to Eva and Joseph Godmaire. Maurice was a welder and began his work life in the shipyards of Montreal. In the 50's he headed west and eventually made his way to Brandon where he met and married the love of his life, Grace in 1961. The family moved to Minnedosa in 1966 when Maurice was able to run his own Business, Minnedosa Welding. The north called the family in 1976 and Dad found his passion when he & mom built their retirement home at Setting Lake. Maurice's happiest times were when he was at the lake. Nothing gave him greater pleasure than being with his birds and fishing with his dog, Mindy. He loved when his family came to the Lake. Getting wood ready for winter was always family time and usually followed with a good belt of Scotch. Maurice will be sadly missed by; his wife Grace, son Cliff McKaig (Patti) of Kansas City, MO., daughters Diana Bull (Richard) of Brandon, Lorelei Campbell of Winnipeg, Julliette Scott (Bob) of Shawville, Que. Nephews, Alain (Sharon) and Flo (Val) of Winnipeg. Maurice had eight grandchildren, Loralie (Jim), Michelle (Jim), Lindsay (Curtis), Jessie, Kayla and Cody, Susan (Scott) and Jason. He also leaves great grandchildren, Sophia, Sydney, Noah, Cameron and Rylee. Maurice was predeceased by; his parents, brother Paul, sister Cecile and daughter Celina. Cremation has taken place with a memorial service to follow at a later date. Expressions of Sympathy may be forwarded to memorieschapel@mts.net.
