HAWKINS: The death of Matthew Charles Hawkins of Brandon occurred in the city on Saturday, November 25, 2006. The Funeral Service will be held at Central United Church on Friday, December 1, 2006 at 10:00 am. Mr. Mike Waddell and Deacon John MacKenzie will officiate. Interment will follow in the Brandon Cemetery. HAWKINS: Matthew Charles Hawkins passed away at the Brandon Regional Health Centre on November 25, 2006 at the age of 38 years. Matthew was born and raised in Thompson, Manitoba. He completed his education in Thompson, receiving his diploma in 1986 from R.D. Parker Collegiate. Matthew attended St. Francis Xavier University in Antigonish, Nova Scotia completing his Bachelor of Business Administration in 1990. Matthew commenced employment with Scotia Bank in Thompson in 1991 as a loan officer. He continued to work his way up taking positions in Winkler and Balmertown, Ontario prior to settling in Brandon to become the manager of Scotia Bank in the Shopper's Mall. Matthew coached Special Olympics softball for the past 5 years. He took his team, "Brandon Comets" to the Special Olympics Canada Summer Games held here in Brandon this past summer, winning a silver medal. He loved the Chicago Cubs, Winnipeg Jets and enjoyed watching the Brandon Wheat Kings as a season ticket holder. Matthew enjoyed barbequing in his backyard; sitting back and relaxing with friends having a drink. Matthew had a wonderful sense of humor, he always had a kind word to say, and was always there as a friend, husband, son, brother and especially a father. Matthew will be lovingly remembered by his wife Cindy, daughters Christine and Erin; parents Anna and Charles Hawkins; grandmother Eva Hawkins; brother Michael (Lisa); nieces: Jayme, Annette, and Alexandra; numerous relatives and many friends. The Funeral Service was held at Central United Church on Friday, December 1, 2006. Mr. Mike Waddell and Deacon John MacKenzie officiated. Pallbearers were Michael Hawkins, Brian Boes, Glenn Geber, Gary McDonough, Terry Sparling, and Pat Madill. Interment followed in the Brandon Cemetery.
