YANICK: The death of Mary Gladys Yanick, of Brandon, occurred at the Brandon Regional Health Centre on Tuesday, July 27, 2004. Mary was born in Grandview, Manitoba on April 16, 1937 and spent her early childhood in Marco MB. She started school at the age of five at Ohla and moved to Menzie, MB at the age of six where she attended school, completing grade 10 at Oakburn, MB. Mary married Walter in 1954 at the age of 16. She raised her family of five children and worked at Brandon General Hospital for 20 years. Mary's religion was very important to her, she attended mass and prayed every day. She enjoyed reading, crafts, crocheting and knitting. Mary is survived by: her husband, Walter; sons, Larry (Donna-Lynn), David and Dennis; daughters, Lorraine (Rob) Porcellato and Gail (Don) Miller-Tait; 10 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild; brothers Lloyd and Lawrence; sisters Joyce, Stella and Helen. She was predeceased by her parents, Mike and Anne Cottes; sister Sophie; brothers Tony and Mel. Prayers were said at Memories Chapel on Friday, July 30. The Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Augustine's Roman Catholic Church on Saturday, July 31, 2004. Celebrant was Fr. Leo Fernandes. Pallbearers were grandsons; Dan, Kevin, Brad, Mitch, Bryan, and Evan. Honorary Pallbearer was grandson Wyatt. Interment followed in the Rosewood Memorial Gardens.
