Mary McClure of Oak Lake, Manitoba, passed away peacefully at the Virden Hospital, on Wednesday, August 28, 2002. The Funeral Ceremony will be held at the Oak Lake United Church on Saturday, August 31, 2002 at 11:00 am. Viewing at the Church prior to the ceremony. Interment will follow in the Oak Lake Cemetery. Mary McClure of Oak Lake, Manitoba, passed away peacefully at the Virden Hospital, on Wednesday, August 28, 2002. Mary was born at Minitonas, Manitoba on March 25, 1914 , the daughter of Neil and Margaret McClure. Her mother died when she was about 6 years old. The family moved to various farming communities while she was growing up. Childhood memories included baseball games, Sunday visiting, and learning to play pool. She attended school in Elva, Manitoba, and began her nursing career in Swan River, Manitoba, where she worked as a nurse's aid in a maternity home for a number of years. She spoke with affection of the time she worked at the bakery in Swan River. After a time away from her family, she choose to move home and become a homemaker for her father and brother. Mary had a deep love of flowers and reading. She enjoyed needlework, and was still doing embroidery. Most importantly was her family, especially the children who she loved to spoil. Mary is survived by her nieces; Donna (Clare) Couling, Marlene Schenk, great-niece; Carole Ann Baker (Ed Brethour), and great great-niece and nephews; Shane, Kelsey and Braden. She was predeceased by her parents; Neil and Margaret McClure, great nephew, David Couling; brother, Alex, and sister, Florence Schenk. The Funeral Ceremony was held at the Oak Lake United Church on Saturday, August 31, 2002 at 11:00 am. with Pam Dean Officiating. Interment was in the Oak Lake Cemetery. Pallbearers were; ManoWiens, Jake Thiessen, Pete Masson, Ron Robinson, David Swaenepoel, and Gary Doyle. Friends who wish may make a donation in memory of Mary to a charity of their choice.
