Obituary

HOFER: Mary Hofer of Brandon, went to her heavenly home on Thursday, May 21, 2015 at the age of 83 years. She was born April 18, 1932 on Rosedale Colony near Elie, MB. In 1959, Mary moved to Hillside Colony at Justice, MB until 1982, when she moved to the farm near Chater. Mary spent years babysitting, gardening, baking pies, and sewing. She was blessed with an incredible memory and she knew every birth date of her siblings and her 84 nieces and nephews, many of whom she phoned and sang her famous version of the birthday song. Mary and her sisters, Anna & Justine "The Aunties", always had an open door for family and friends who stopped in for coffee/lunch. What mattered most to Mary was her strong faith and devotion to her Lord & Saviour. Mary will be deeply missed by her surviving sister, Justine, and her brother Dave. She was predeceased by her parents, John and Anna; her brothers: John, Jake, Eli, Paul, Mike, Joseph and Andrew and her sisters: Anna, Susie, and Maria. Family and friends were invited to a time of visitation at Memories Chapel, 330 18th Street North, on Monday, May 25, 2015 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.. The Funeral Service took place at Memories Chapel on Tuesday, May 26, 2015 with Rev. Richard Wittmeier officiating. A reception followed at the Monterey Estates Recreation Hall.
