ALLEN: Mary Isabel Allen of Rivers, beloved wife of Robert Hugh "Bob", passed away at the Riverdale Hospital on Saturday, June 5, 1999. Mary was born at Levine, Manitoba on November 17, 1930, daughter of William and Margaret Ede. She moved to Rivers in 1948 and on November 1, 1951, married Robert Hugh "Bob" Allen. Mary and Bob spent all their married life in Rivers. She enjoyed sewing, her houseplants and reading. During her years in Rivers, Mary worked in several of the local restaurants. She is survived by her husband Bob, five sons and two daughters: Robert William Allen of Edmonton, Shirley Gail Chambers of Rivers, Linda Denise (Glen) Bobyk of Brandon, Kenneth Hugh Allen of McAuley, Gary Alfred Allen of Rivers, James Douglas Allen of Edmonton, Thomas Ward (Shelley) Allen of Brandon. There are ten grandchildren. She is also survived by three sisters and one brother; Margaret Brown, Gertrude Ede, Jessica (Charles) Bradley and William Ede. Her mother-in-law, Mary Allen of Rivers and Brothers-in-law; Alfred James Allen of Brandon, W.H. "Bill" (Lena) Allen of Rivers, Edward Thomas Allen of Campbell River, BC, Gordon John (Lois) Allen of Brandon, David Gerald (Marlene) Allen of Rivers and sister-in-law, Dixie Ann (Henry) Houston of Russell also survive. She was predeceased by her parents, William and Margaret Ede, an infant son, sister, Elizabeth, brother-in-law, Joshua Brown and sisters-in-law, Margaret Ross, Dorothy Ramsden and her father-in-law, Alf Allen. The funeral Ceremony was held at St. James Anglican Church, Rivers, Manitoba on Wednesday, June 9, 1999 at 2:30 pm. The Rev. John Wiebe officiated. Interment will take place at a later date. Friends who wish may make a donation in memory of Mary to the Riverdale Health Centre Memorial Fund, the Canadian Cancer Society or to a charity of choice.
