She promoted the museum through trips to air shows in Moose Jaw, Portage la Prairie and Winnipeg. Marlene had a permanent seat at the Royal Manitoba Winter Fair enjoying the horse shows especially show jumping and heavy horses. She took great interest in history, sharing her knowledge from her travels to museums and interpretive centres with her family and friends. Her vast knowledge of world events was gleaned from her love of books; a love she shared with her father. For many years they shared the current best sellers from the history section. American and Canadian History were two of Marlene's favorites. She enjoyed "get-togethers" with her "group" of ladies for special outings; Saturday lunch at Lady of the Lake was one of her favorites.
