Marjorie Elizabeth (nee Wilson) Murray passed away, after a short illness, on April 1, 2001 at the Brandon Regional Health Centre at the age of 63 years. She was born March 27, 1938. Marjorie was raised in the farming community of Rapid City, Manitoba, the second child born to Arthur and Bess Wilson. She attended Tremaine School, Rapid City High School and then continued her education at Brandon University. Marjorie was a school teacher at Oakner and Newdale, Manitoba. Marjorie married Gordon Murray on August 22, 1959 at Hunterville Church and together they had two children. She never returned to teaching, instead she stayed home to raise her family and help with the family farm. Marjorie was a hard working farm wife who pitched in where ever help was needed. In 1976 the family moved from the farm into Newdale and Marjorie went to work at the Strathclair Community School as a custodian for the next fifteen years. During this time she was also employed at the Newdale Senior Citizen's Home (Harrison House) until 1989. For a period of time she also did respite work in Newdale with clients from the Rolling Dale day program. Both Gordon and Marjorie spent the winter of 1990 in Yellowknife where Marjorie worked at the Inukshuk Day Care Centre. She was very artistic and enjoyed drawing, crafts, refinishing furniture, cross-stitch and crocheting. Marjorie always looked forward to the World Series and all the World Curling events. She will always be remembered as a quiet, loving and supportive person who saw the good in everyone. Marjorie was pre-deceased by her parents: Bess in 1993 and Arthur in 1998; and her husband, Gordon in 1999. She is survived by her children: son, Cameron of Yellowknife, NWT; daughter, Wendy (Terry) Robins of Rivers, Manitoba: two grandchildren, Derek and Dana Robins; brother, Art (Marj) of Brandon, their four children and families; brother David (Colleen) of Rapid City and their four children and families; mother-in-law, Bessie Murray of Brandon; and many special relatives and friends. The Funeral Service was held at Memories Chapel, 330 - 18th Street North, on Thursday, April 5, 2001 at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. Barb Jardine officiating.
