Obituary

LAWSON: The death of Lorraine Lawson, widow of Gordon Lawson and dear mother of Debra (Ray) McAuley, Randy (Darla) and Dave (Lorraine) Lawson, occurred at the Brandon Regional Health Centre on Thursday, May 3, 2007. A time of visitation for family and friends will be held at Memories Chapel, 330-18th Street North on Monday, May 7, 2007 (tonight) from 7:00 pm. - 8:00 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Augustine's Roman Catholic Church, 327-4th Street on Tuesday, May 8, 2007 at 10:30 am. Celebrant will be Fr. Dominic Yuen. Interment will follow in the Brandon cemetery. Friends who wish, may make a donation in memory of Lorraine to the Canadian Cancer Society, Manitoba Division, 193 Sherbrook Street, Winnipeg, MB R3C 9Z9. Complete obituary information will follow. LAWSON: M. Lorraine Lawson passed away at the Brandon Regional Health Centre on Thursday, May 3, 2007. Lorraine was born at Calgary, Alberta on May 14, 1934, daughter of Melvin and Adeline Storey. The family lived in Olds, Alberta before moving to Boissevain and following, the family's move to Brandon. She received her education at St. Augustine's and St. Michael's Academy. On January 22, 1953, she married Gord Lawson in Brandon. Lorraine was a sales clerk at F.W. Woolworth Company before and after having her family. She retired when Woolworth's closed and babysat two of her grandchildren - Robin and Blaine. In the early 50's, a highlight in Lorraine's life was being chosen the South End Community Centre Carnival Queen. She had the same interests as her mother, Adeline - sewing and knitting. She thoroughly enjoyed knitting for her grandchildren. Lorraine will be sadly missed by her children Debbie (Ray) McAuley and their son Blaine; Randy (Darla) Lawson and family James, Marlayna, Sherena, Jared, great-granddaughter Harley; Dave (Lorraine) Lawson and children Corey, and Kyle; Cathy Lawson and her children Robin, Steven, and Benjamin. She leaves one sister Elaine and one brother Ed. Lorraine was predeceased by her parents, Mel and Adeline Storey; her husband Gordon; son Calvin; two infant children and one brother Garry. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Augustine's Roman Catholic Church, on Tuesday, May 8, 2007. Celebrant was Fr. Dominic Yuen. Interment followed in the Brandon cemetery.
