With deep sadness the family of Marion Cross announces her passing at Fairview Home on January 31, 2001, in her 97th year. She was born Marion Catherine MacIntosh at Dalkeith, Ontario on July 8, 1904 to Catherine and Norman MacIntosh, whose Scottish grandparents had settled in Glengarry County in the early 1800's. Her husband to be, Jonathon Cross was born at Caledona Springs, Ontario, November 11, 1889. Marion and Jack were married March 5, 1928 in Ottawa. They moved to Woodrow, Saskatchewan, where Jack had lived since 1910. They then moved to Griswold in 1937. Marion was a tireless worker for the United Church for fifty years. She was active in the Eastern Star, was a past Matron and a life member of Concord Chapter #39. She received her fifty year pin on December 11, 1997. Marion was a member of the White Shrine of Jerusalem in Brandon and the Crocus Club in Griswold. Her family and friends will lovingly remember her for her strength of character and her devotion to family and community. Marion loved to play her piano and to quote poetry, even into her 90's. Surviving are two daughters: Jean Farley (Earle) of Douglas, Winn Campbell (Bill) of Calgary and five sons; Stanley (Iris), Archie (Kay), Joe (Lorna), John (Dorothy) all of Griswold and Evans (Candace) of Brandon. Also surviving are her fourteen grandchildren: Cindy Locke (Bruce), Souris; Barbara Bell (Tim), Calgary; Kenneth Cross (Sandra), Brandon; Dawna Sawka (Geoff), Calgary; Beverly Cross, Winnipeg; Dwayne Cross (Christine), Virden; Donald Campbell (Sandra Lee), Laguna Beach CA; Sandra Cross, Brandon; Marion Cross, Kuwait; Dianne Wooldridge (Robb), Virden; Christine Vik (Erik), Calgary; Ryan Cross, Brandon; Jody Cross, Calgary; Darlene Cross, Brandon. There are fourteen great grandchildren: Cori and Brett Locke; Meagan and Myles Bell; Braden, Teagan and Derek Cross; Landon and Brittany Cross; Alexa and MacKenzie Wooldridge; Haley Campbell, Logan and Alexandra Sawka. Also surviving are: sister-in-law Janice MacIntosh of Dalkeith, Ontario, nieces and nephews and many cousins in Ontario and the West. Marion was predeceased by her husband Jonathon Cross in 1966, her grandchild, Catherine Campbell in 1961 and her brother John MacIntosh in 1987. The Ceremony to Celebrate Marion's life will be held at the Griswold United Church, Griswold on Monday, February 5, 2001 at 2:00 pm. Pam Dean will officiate. Interment will follow in the Griswold cemetery.
