WHALLEY: Madeleine Whalley, beloved wife and mother, passed away at the Brandon Regional Health Centre on Thursday, December 12, 2002. Madeleine Hermina Whalley (Maddi) was born in Montreal, Quebec on July 28, 1922. She was raised and received her entire education with the Grey Nuns in Montreal before moving to Winnipeg in 1956. It was here that she met Ronald Anson Whalley and they were married on October 8, 1965. They moved to Brandon, where she owned and operated a restaurant and motel from 1964 until 1985. Madeleine and Ron enjoyed camping, traveling and dancing. She enjoyed music, especially the piano and also knitting. Her favorite "sport" however was bingo and she always wanted to have the winning number. Madeleine also participated in numerous shuffleboard tournaments. She was a member of the A.N. & A.F. and the Crocus Seniors Club in later years. Madeleine will be sadly missed by her loving husband, Ron and children; Lynne Klaassen (Dean Malloy), Louise (Kenneth) Jones, Diane (Philip) Craig, June (Vern) Klaassen, Barbara (Steve) Paras and James Edwardson (Linda Eckert-Biles). There are fourteen grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. Madeleine also leaves brother and sisters: Pierre Duclos, Martha Metcalfe, Susan Poirier, Frances Hebert and Denise Larosa. She was predeceased by, her son Robert Edwardson, sister, Terese Harnois and brother, Jean-Jacques Duclos. The Ceremony of Christian Burial was held at Memories Chapel on Monday, December 16, 2002. Celebrant was Fr. Leo Fernandes. Flowers are gratefully declined.
