BENSON: Marianne Florence passed away in Brandon on December 26, 2011. Marianne (nee Curtis) was born to Stanley and Florence Curtis in 1963 in Flin Flon, Manitoba. After completing her Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Saskatoon Marianne spent several years teaching in small communities before she came to Brandon to find her passion as an elementary music teacher at George Fitton Elementary School. In 2000, Marianne moved from Music to Reading Recovery. Reading Recovery was a program developed to help grade one students who were having problems with literacy. During her career Marianne helped many students open their doors to the beauty of music and the love of reading. Marianne is survived by her sons; Curtis and Chace, her parents; Stanley and Florence and her siblings; Roger, Barb and Kenneth. Marianne was a loving mother, a faithful daughter and dedicated teacher. A service will be held in her home town of Flin Flon in July of 2012.
