Mary Born beloved mother of Bruce (Bev) Born and Judy (Peter) Hiebert, passed away at her residence, Dinsdale Home on Sunday, September 16, 2001. Mary was born on November 11, 1916 in Plum Coulee, Manitoba, daughter of Maria and Abram Wiebe. She was educated in the Plum Coulee area. As a teenager Mary worked on the farm, loved youth, music, church activities, and her family were very important to her. At the age of 16 years she began to work as a family caregiver in different homes. The majority of her working life she cleaned and maintained homes and schools. Mary was a member of Grace Mennonite Church. She taught Sunday school, choirs, and family singing. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, home care and houseplants. Mary's children and grandchildren were very special to her. Mary leaves her daughter, Judy (Peter) Hiebert; son, Bruce (Bev) Born; grandchildren: Pam (Matt) Reimer; Travis (Audrey) Hiebert; Daryl (Carlie) Hiebert; sisters, Henrietta "Ettie" Schroeder; Kaye (John) Penner; Gertrude "Toots" (Lyle) Sterna and one brother, Peter (Dolly) Wiebe. She was predeceased by her parents, Abram and Maria Wiebe; husband, Peter Born; brothers, Abe, Bill, and Henry Wiebe; and one sister, Margaret Wiebe. The Funeral Ceremony was held at the McDiarmid Drive Alliance Church, 635 McDiarmid Drive on Thursday, September 20, 2001 at 3:00 pm. Dr. Clifford Bergman officiated. Pallbearers were: Henry Hildebrand, Norman Blatz, Rodney Schroeder, Bob Hildebrand, Lorne Penner and Mel Hume. Interment followed in the Brandon Cemetery.
