EDWARDS: It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Marguerite Elaine Edwards on Thursday, June 2, 2005 at the Brandon Regional Health Centre after a short battle with cancer. Marguerite was the first child born to Mae and Jack Edwards on November 1, 1940. She resided in Brandon her entire life, obtaining her education at Fleming and Earl Oxford Schools as well as Brandon Collegiate Institute prior to attending at the Brandon Business College for further training. Her first secretarial position was at Gillis & Warren and following that, she then spent almost 30 years with Wilton's Car Dealership. The Wilton family was very good to Marguerite and treated her like one of their own. After the closing of Wilton's, Marg took a different direction and went to work with Lee Clark, MP for Brandon-Souris. Following his term in office, she was then employed with the Brandon Constituency office until there was a change in government. Her next 5 years were spent as the accounts clerk at Bradley Sand & gravel and following a change in ownership to Zenith Paving, Marguerite was asked to stay on with their company, but at a different location. She stayed with this position until illness forced her into a medical leave just 6 weeks ago. She loved her job and fellow co-workers and had no intention of retiring, when the time would have rolled around later this year. She was most fortunate in her last two jobs to have the Bradley and Cumming families as her employers, who treated her with much respect and kindness. Fraternally, Marguerite was a long-time member of U.C.T. She was Past Counselor of the Executive Board and was also a long-term treasurer of Travo. Within the last two years, Marg had joined the "Red Hat" ladies and thoroughly enjoyed the social outings and special friendships she experienced. She loved to travel and had done a few bus trips, with future plans to do more. Marguerite was predeceased by her father, Jack Edwards in June 2000 and her grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. William Noakes and John and Alice Edwards all of Brandon, as well as several aunts and uncles. She will be lovingly remembered by her mother, Mae Edwards; brother, Bill (Norma) Edwards; her beloved niece and nephew; Kristal (Daryn) Laminman of Winnipeg and Todd (Brenda) Edwards of Starbuck. Also surviving are great nieces and nephews, Brittany and Brendan Laminman and Dylan and Halle Edwards. All of these were like her own children and grandchildren and were a very special part of her life, as she was of theirs. The Ceremony to Celebrate Marguerite's Life will be held at Memories Chapel, 330-18th Street North, on Monday, June 6, 2005 at 2:00 pm. Rev. Joan Jarvis from Central United Church will officiate. Interment will follow in the Rosewood Memorial Gardens. Flowers are gratefully declined. Friends who wish may make a donation in memory of Marguerite to the Canadian Cancer Society, Manitoba Division, 193 Sherbrook Street, Winnipeg, MB R3C 2B7, Manitoba Lung Association, 8-940 Princess Avenue, Brandon, MB R7A 0P6 or to a charity of choice.
